Hampton is one of the top historically black universities in the country. Its programs in business administration, psychology, nursing and pharmacy programs are particularly popular.
The school's $250 million endowment has helped Hampton give students a high-quality education at a bargain price, said Dr. William R. Harvey, president of Hampton University.
Outside the classroom, Hampton also has a Division I athletics program. Undergrads can enjoy hanging out at a new student center with bowling lanes, a food court and offices for student leaders. Further afield, it's just a short trip for students to visit the Virginia Air & Space Center or colonial Williamsburg.
