More than seven out of 10 six-figure jobs are found via networking, according to ExecuNet.com. So widen your inner circle to boost your chances of finding a good job when you need one. "It's a numbers game," says Asher Epstein, a managing director at the University of Maryland's School of Business.
If you want one job, you need at least 10 interviews; to land those 10, you need to contact 100 employers; to make those contacts, you need to talk to 500 people, he says. "To get to 500, ask everyone you talk to to refer you to two more people."
