While most people think of collectible cars as being vintage vehicles, a big part of the annual Barrett-Jackson collector car auctions, going on this week in Scottsdale, are the so-called "contemporary collectibles." These are cars built to be collectible.
In this case, someone will get to drive away in a "one of one" -- meaning this is it -- "Grabber Blue" 2012 Ford Boss Mustang Laguna Seca. This is the racing version of the 440-horsepower Boss 302. No back seats here. This particular car was created by Ford especially for this year's 40th Anniversary Barrett-Jackson car auctions. Proceeds from its sale will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
For those who prefer the classics, Barrett-Jackson is also selling a number of other Boss 302's, including this 1970 model in "Grabber Orange."
