VW was one of 2011's big success stories. Paying attention to the U.S. market for the first time in 40 years, the German automaker launched two successful sedans -- the Passat (pictured) and the Jetta -- and saw its share grow to 3.5% from 3.1% It will be difficult to maintain the momentum going forward. Murphy's analysis shows only two small hatchbacks joining VW's mix in 2013, and a redo of the Tiguan scheduled for 2014.
