It doesn't seem like much good could come out of the country's wasteful healthcare system. But HMS Holdings has found a way to make waste pay, mining health claims and government and private data for examples of inefficiency, fraud, and abuse.

In 2009, the company clocked in at No. 20 on this list and appeared again at in the No. 10 spot last year. Now at No. 38, HMS Holdings is still moving fast. Revenues were up by 32% in 2010, which was, as CEO William Lucia wrote in a letter to shareholders, "by any measure ... the best year in the company's history."
