Get more sleep with a new mattress
Fewer than eight hours of z's can affect your health as well as your productivity at work. Replacing a mattress that's over five years old will enhance the quality of your sleep as well as reduce back and shoulder pain, according to researchers at Oklahoma State University. You can find a quality king-size for about $1,000.

Look for a model that keeps your hips and shoulders from sagging, and test out your future bed in the store for at least 15 minutes, says Karin Mahoney of the International Sleep Products Association.
