During his post as President of the New York Fed, Tim Geithner failed to pay all his income taxes. He was subsequently audited by the IRS and later paid up everything he owed, but that didn't stop him from getting a public flogging.
After President Obama nominated Geithner for the Treasury Secretary position, Congress held a hearing grilling Geithner about his tax history.
Critics nicknamed him "TurboTax Tim," after he claimed he had used the popular tax software when filing his returns. Making matters worse? One of the bureaus of the Treasury Department is the IRS.
