Fresh out of college, I started off as an intern doing public relations at a nonprofit. At the time, I earned $250 per week, but was promised a full-time position after a month probationary period.
Three months later, I was finally given a $24,000 starting salary. Great, I thought, but then my supervisor left the organization, and I suddenly found myself with all of her job responsibilities too.
Since then, I was promised an increase in pay, but instead I got a pay cut. More of my colleagues have resigned, and here I am getting all of their work thrown on me, because we're understaffed.
I've tried applying elsewhere, but it's getting a bit overwhelming. I'm 23 yrs old and the only savings I had was used to support me during my internship phase. Now that my school loans recently kicked in, I basically have to go back to my college lifestyle eating ramen noodles.
