The beaches and golf courses on this exclusive barrier island are consistently rated among the top in the U.S. The one hotel here is pricey (rooms start at $460 a night), but you can get a three-bedroom vacation home for around $365 a night in summer, according to HomeAway.com.
Low price: Dominican Republic
Because the D.R. doesn't have the brand recognition of other Caribbean destinations, you can usually find lower prices. The average rate for an all-inclusive here is half that of Jamaica's: Three-star Hotel Iberostar Bavaro in Punta Cana is $157 a person (kids under 12: $79), with board, in spring and summer.
Tip: You can save at least 25% on lodging for beach vacations if you choose a hotel that's not oceanfront, says agent Caroline Wood of Brownell Travel.
