At Atomic #7 Trustworthy Treats, on Las Vegas' outskirts, joy comes from simple pleasures, like offering a nine-year-old kid his first ice cream cone -- one that's free of the allergens that could send him to the hospital.
Ginger Corbett, 33, formerly a light designer, and Rachelle Fournier, 28, a Vegas dancer, are the owners of Atomic #7. They hit on the idea for a made-to-order shop after an outing to find ice cream that fit with their dietary restrictions flopped.
Investing $70,000, the pair launched Atomic #7 in June 2010, and began catering to special diets.
Now, customers can get ice cream that is organic and allergen-free faster. Regular ice-cream-making techniques can take hours, but at Atomic #7, icy desserts are customized in minutes. They even come in homemade gluten-free cones.
In its first year of business, Atomic #7 reached $256,000 in revenue and will open a second shop in Las Vegas this November.
