Given the astounding performance and drivability of its cars, Ferrari can get away with an occasional bit of interior cheapery that would make a similarly-priced automaker, like Bentley, hide its head in horrified shame.
Most notable here, ensconced within the FF's properly leather-coated interior, is that computer screen located on the dash, just under the Ferrari badge. If you own any of several Chrysler Group products, you might recognize it. I'd encountered the same exact exact piece of equipment before in a Jeep Patriot and in a last-generation Dodge Charger, among others.
You see, Ferrari is owned by Italy's Fiat Group, which now also owns Michigan's Chrysler Group. That does make for some interesting "technology-sharing" opportunities but this isn't what we were hoping for.
That said, the silly screen has nothing to do with driving the car which is what Ferrari engineers have, rightly, put their time and attention to. It controls the navigation and phone systems. I'm just hoping that, soon, they'll start using Chrysler's fancy new 8-inch touch screens which at least look nicer.
