President Barack Obama captured the Granite State by a slim margin in 2008, and the state's four electoral votes could play a crucial role this year.
The recession didn't hit New Hampshire quite as hard as other places, thanks to a housing market that fared better than others, as well as tourism and a high-tech sector that helped buoy the state's economy.
At 5.1%, New Hampshire has the lowest unemployment rate of the seven states that CNN projects could go either way on Election Day. Only five states have a lower unemployment rate.
But there is some evidence the recovery is slowing in New Hampshire. While an unemployment rate of 5% is very low, it is actually well above the state's historical norm. Job creation has been lackluster in recent months as well.
That may be a reason why Romney is not conceding New Hampshire.
