Age: 42
At CCTV's Chinese Economy Person of the Year award ceremony, a host described Neil Shen as a man with the magic of the "Midas touch." Shen has successfully taken several of his Chinese companies to the U.S. IPO market -- Ctrip and Home Inns are among the winners. Shen studied at Yale University and worked at various international banks including Citigroup after graduation.
In 1999, he got to know Liang Jianzhang in America through a friend from China, and they jointly founded the online travel site Ctrip. He is also a co-founder Home Inns, as well as the biggest individual investor in Focus Media and E-House China. Under the backdrop of the global financial crisis, Sequioa China, led by Neil Shen, has maintained its optimism on China's entrepreneurs, investing in many companies with high growth potential.
