But that's what happened in December 2010 when a group of hackers calling themselves "Gnosis" took responsibility for releasing a 500-megabyte file with the usernames,emails and passwords of up to 1.3 million registered users. "We went after Gawker because of their outright arrogance," the group said at the time.
