These are some of the stranger cars available at California collector car auctions.
Gabriel Voisin, the founder of Avions Voisin, was both an architect and aviation designer. When he got around to designing cars, he wanted to create the perfect all-around automobile. In its day, this car was the pinnacle of modern design.
Voisin's design dictum was "No line which does not fulfill a function can be beautiful." So the Aerodyne's trunk was smoothly integrated into the flowing line of the body. Among other interesting touches, this car has a sliding retractable hard top similar to the one on today's Lincoln MKZ. With the roof closed, occupants could still see the sky through a series of round windows overhead.
This car is expected to sell for between $2 million and $3 million.
