It seems unimaginable today, but the 928 was originally intended to replace the Porsche 911. To hardcore Porsche fans, the 928, with its V8 engine mounted in the wrong end (meaning the front) of the car, the very idea seems like sacrilege. But the 928 earned, and still maintains, its own cult following. Values for this model are expected to rise as classic Porsche 911s become more expensive and less accessible, according to Roger Falcione, President of ClassicCars.com.

The S4, considered by many to be the best-looking version of the car, was only produced for five years starting in 1987.
