When it left General Motors(GM)' factory, this Corvette -- equipped with a number of performance options -- was white with a black interior. The purple paint job was added by Chicago's Nickey Chevrolet for its race team. They wanted their cars to stand out on the track. Also helping it to stand out was the fact that it was often in the lead.
