Vladimir Putin's Russia has barred a lot of things in recent years. Some of the restrictions alarm human rights watchers, while others are more amusing to outside observers.
Russia, along with Belarus and Kazakhstan, has effectively banned lacy underwear. The countries -- which form a custom union -- adopted a law in 2013 that requires clothing that comes into contact with the skin to contain at least 6% cotton, for safety reasons.
But most luxury lingerie is made of materials with less than 4% cotton -- and therefore is not allowed.
