About 15.6% of telecom workers are unionized, largely represented by the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
These workers include employees of cable, satellite, Internet and telephone providers.
Last year, about 45,000 of Verizon's union workers walked off the job after the company demanded rollbacks of wages, benefits and union rules while posting profits of up to $6 billion.
