London-based pastry chef Claire Ptak, owner of Violet Bakery, was chosen to supply a lemon elderflower cake for the big day.

While the bakery declined to comment on their prices, it's not unusual for elaborate wedding cakes to cost thousands.

"It doesn't really matter how big the cake is. It's how complex it is," said Simon from Banana Split.

Simon said one wedding his firm coordinated featured an intricate cake decorated with hand-made "sugar roses" that cost nearly £10,000 ($13,500).
