IRS workers gathered in New York City this week to protest the government spending cuts that will result in at least five furlough days without pay.
After years of pay freezes and now five days of furloughs, John Kelshan, an appeals officer at the IRS and president of the New Jersey NTEU chapter, said "morale [at the IRS] is at an all-time low."
