The real estate dollar stretches a long way in some of Chicago's southern suburbs -- and University Park is no exception. Located 30 miles south of the Windy City, the small, planned community, claims a 30-acre lake, community pool and Governors State University as its main attractions.
Seven years ago, this split-level home, built in 1993, sold for $350,000, according to Trulia, but the real estate bust destroyed the home's value. It is now a bank-owned property and is selling for slightly more than the average four bedroom house in town, thanks to all of its amenities, including its nearly acre-sized, cul-de-sac lot, hardwood floors, fireplace and separate family room.
