Jobs -- in mining, energy, construction, health care and other industries -- as well as a great lifestyle, have made Denver a hotspot for newcomers.
In fact, the city was one of the fastest growing cities in the nation last year.
And home sales have been heating up as a result. According to the local Realtors association, home sales were up 26% last year alone.
That's pushed home prices higher, with values surpassing their boom time peak last summer when they hit a median of $239,000. The market has been climbing ever since.
While home prices in the Denver metro area are quite a bit higher than the U.S. average, so are household incomes at more than $61,000 a year.
