Reclaiming wasted food
5 of 6
Startup: Poshnam

Over 1 billion tons of unsold food is wasted every year, and Poshnam wants to change that.
The startup plans to buy excess grains, vegetables and imperfect produce from local farmers and stock them in coops that it sets up in urban slums.
The company then wants to recruit and train a network of local women to pick up the produce from its coops each day and sell it in the slums via mobile carts.
The startup, which plans to launch its venture in Hyderabad, India, said it's mission is both to provide healthy food at lower prices and generate local jobs.
