Over the next three months, tech companies will be launching some of their most highly-anticipated gadgets. Here's what to expect -- or hope -- for in the fall.
Though technically not a gadget, one of the most eagerly awaited technology products this year will be Microsoft's radically redesigned Windows 8. The touch-enabled operating system is expected to inspire a host of new PC gadgets, including tablets, touch-screen ultrabooks, wall screens and even table tops in the coming months.
Microsoft (MSFT) is serious about getting customers to use its new OS. For those who already have Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, upgrading to Windows 8 will only cost $40 for a promotional period that lasts through January.
