Google is expected to unveil the next version of Android next week. These 5 features could improve the operating system.
Google Now has the potential to be the killer feature of Android.
Its ability to deliver information you want in the context of your location or time of day is already good. But there's so much more Google could do with Google Now, and the search giant needs to continue developing the technology.
Google Now should be more than a service hidden behind the home screen search bar or in a "widget." Like Facebook (FB) did with Home or HTC did with its Sense user interface, Google Now could become the entire home screen for Android. It could be a dynamic experience that doesn't require you to navigate into deep into the operating system to access it.
When it comes to the Google Now app itself, having control over the cards is a necessary addition for Google to make. If there is a specific location, game or calendar entry you want to appear, of if there's a card you want permanently attached at all times, you should have the freedom to do that. It would lessen the roulette feeling you currently get from Google Now.
