Europes third-largest oil producer continued its ambitious plans for exploration. Not only did it say it would drill twice as many frontier exploration wells, the company also predicted output to climb at 2.5% a year from 2012 to 2015, driven largely by projects in Angola and Nigeria. And banking on interest in renewable energy, Total agreed to buy as much as 60% of solar panel-maker SunPower Corporation for $1.38 billion. -- J.P.M.
