The job:
As it is with many health care jobs, the aging population is fueling demand for medical case managers, who develop and recommend treatment plans. You’ll interview patients, help them with paperwork, and work with nurses and doctors to coordinate and implement care and to monitor the patient’s progress.
How to switch:
Employers look for a background in counseling, social work or nursing. An associate’s degree in human services or behavioral sciences, as well as certification, will pave the way. Visit the Case Management Society of America at cmsa.org for more.
