Compare Brookline to Top 10 Best Places
Minutes from Boston's famed Fenway Park baseball stadium, this seven-square-mile town has an urban feel, with upscale shops and apartment buildings. Yet the tree-lined streets that surround Brookline's downtown are decidedly suburban. Brookline is home to some of the Boston area's fanciest real estate, with multimillion-dollar homes dotting the area (the median price is a lofty $565,000). It also houses some of the state's best schools, thanks in large part to a hefty property tax. Math and reading scores are 80% and 62% above the state average, respectively. --D.M.Subscribe to Money Magazine
