This isn't the typical Utah town. By state standards, it's diverse, not to mention entrepreneurial: WordPerfect and Novell were founded here.

Orem prides itself on its good schools and safe streets. Good skiing isn't far -- this town nestles at the base of Mt. Timpanogos (it's an hour from Salt Lake City).

Orem is also known for hosting the annual Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, during which professional storytellers from all over the nation give performances and teach workshops. --B.D.
