4. In a meeting with several of your peers and a few people more influential than you are, someone makes a pointed remark that might -- or might not -- be construed as a significant criticism of your work. You:
  • a) Go home that evening and sit around wondering what exactly was meant by the remark and whether or not you should worry about it.
  • b) Wait until the next morning and then call one of the more influential people who was at the meeting and say something like, "I just wanted to run this by you to get your impression." Then recap the remark and why you are concerned about it.
  • c) Call one of your peers who was at the meeting and ask his or her opinion on whether the remark was important and, if so, what you should do about it
