NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Embattled oil giant BP unveiled a mobile claims office in Louisiana, according to a statement from the company.

A converted RV will park at scheduled locations starting Tuesday throughout Louisiana with four claims adjusters to provide another option for claimants unable to get to a brick-and-mortar location.

"This new edition to claims will allow us to reach the communities and individuals who have difficulty traveling to existing claims centers," said Darryl Willis, vice president of resources for BP America, in a written statement.

The first stop of the claims RV is 9499 Grand Caillou Rd. in Dulac, La., where the adjusters will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The claims RV will stay in Dulac again on Wednesday before making the rounds to Abbeville, Thursday and Pierre Part, on Friday.

For now, the traveling claims center will remain in Louisiana, according to Mark Proegler, BP spokesperson. The future path of the RV claims office will be the jurisdiction of Kenneth Feinberg and his team.

Feinberg, former special master of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, has been tasked with overseeing the $20 billion claims fund. While he has yet to officially take over the process, Feinberg says he aims to be in command by the first week in August.

The traveling claims center "is a response to a need, recognizing that not everyone had access to every claim center in person, even though we do have availability online or by phone," said Proegler.

As of Monday, BP has paid out $207 million in claims in 67,500 payments. Almost 116,000 claims have been submitted so far, but BP delayed some payments after increasing the required documentation from claimants.  To top of page
