The Prius is, by far, the best-selling hybrid in America. It also gets the best fuel economy.
Despite a short pipeline and brisk sales, buyers aren't reporting big problems finding a Prius when they want one. Some exasperated buyers even report getting a Prius after they had a hard time finding their first choice of vehicle.
It probably helps that Toyota, the carmaker that sells the most hybrid vehicles, has its own joint venture battery supplier and that it makes many of the components for its hybrid vehicles - even computer chips - itself.
