Ford's "Model Year Clearance" incentive program runs through the end of September, but supplies of some models, like the Ford Fusion, may be getting tight by now. With high gas prices driving consumers toward 4-cylinder equipped models, you'll probably find a broader selection of V-6 Fusions.
The Fusion drives like a slightly less aggressive version of the Mazda6, with which it shares much of its engineering. The interior is sharp-looking and nicely assembled. Ask for the Sync Bluetooth cell phone integration system. It costs about $400.
Opting for the V6 instead of the four-cylinder engine will get you an additional $500 in cash rebates, enough to cover about two years worth of the additional gas it will use. All wheel drive is also available.
