The Avalanche is Detroit's sole represenative on the list this year. The Avalanche is really part truck and part SUV. The rear wall of the cab, where the occupants sit, folds down, creating an opening into the bed to allow for carrying larger items. The bed also has a hard cover, making it something like an enormous car trunk.
Consumer Reports lauds the Avalanche's versatility, solid feel and comfortable, quiet ride.
