Based on a 1989 concept car designed to shake Chrysler Corporation's image as a builder of boring minivans and K-cars, the ten-cylinder Viper sports car symbolized Chrysler's new position as a leader in automotive design in the Nineties.
It also provided a performance halo for Dodge. In 1999 Vipers finished in the first six places in their class at Le Mans.
