In 2012, the Chrysler Sebring and the closely related Dodge Avenger will be both replaced with all-new cars based on Fiat-derived engineering.
But Chrysler has a problem with these cars right now -- even company executives admit they're simply not competitive with other mid-sized autos on the market.
So to address the carmaker's immediate challenges, Chrysler will roll out revamped versions of both the Sebring and the Dodge Avenger early next year.
As Chrysler executives describe it, the cars will be pared down to their most basic engineering, and then redesigned with a nicer exterior, better ride and handling, as well as improved interiors.
And that's going to have to do until the new Fiat versions arrive.
