The laundry list: Health care to immigration

"I think Obama will turn our economy around. I have never seen so much strategic planning done in every sector of our government. He is amazing. I have faith that he will do a great job.

I did not vote for Obama or McCain, but I still have faith that Obama will shake this country up in a positive way.

Let it be known that I have no student loans and have never had any, but I have a master's degree. I am fully employed, and I own my own home outright. I work hard to get what I have and can say that I love my job. I do not get any government handouts and don't expect any from the system.

So, in terms of how he can help me and others during these trying times, I think the bailouts need to stop. He should not allow all these "bonuses" to be taken by CEOs and other upper-management greedy individuals with "the taxpayers" bailout money given to them. He needs to keep businesses here and should limit American companies from outsourcing jobs to other third world countries.

He needs to provide free health care to every American and should regulate how much doctors charge for services. In addition, he needs to initiate a total overhaul on the pharmaceutical companies. They have been ripping us off for many decades now. If they don't want people going to Mexico to buy their prescriptions at a cheaper price, then lower the prescription medication costs.

He needs to help college students by giving them a reduction in their student loan interest rates. Give them monetary credit for volunteering at a non-profit company ($5,000 credit for every 100 hours worked per year).

He needs to stop illegal immigration and punish (send back) those who come to this country illegally.

He needs to help seniors in their retirement age.

This country needs to stop the greed. This is why we have these problems." - as told to Amy Haimerl
