Melissa Daniels: Brought back to the fold
The California native was let go from her job as a community manager at Yahoo in December. But she was only out of work for two months before she was not only back in another community manager role but back at Yahoo, where a manager she had kept in touch with rehired her. "Make sure while you're working somewhere you always have an amazing attitude," she says. "That's something I know was one of the factors that brought me back."

Daniels wasn't out of work long enough to feel financially strained, but it did make her more aware of her spending. It even helped cure what she calls her addiction to designer jeans: "I still buy them, but I don't buy them nearly as frequently as I did before."
