Automakers face stricter green-house gas emissions standards in Europe, but that's not what's behind Porsche's new hybrid push, said David Pryor, vice-president of marketing for Porsche U.S.A. Porsche is just providing what people want, he said.
Whatever the reason, the 2010 Geneva Motor Show has a number of hybrid and plug-in vehicles from carmakers you don't usually associate with "green." At least not this kind of green.
This plug-in hybrid concept sports car combines a 500-horsepower V8 engine with electric motors in the front and rear axles that can deliver an additional 218 horsepower. Electric power is stored in a liquid-cooled lithium ion battery housed just behind the seats, for optimum weight balance.
