The Cruze Eco uses turbocharging to get maximum power, when needed, out of its small, efficient 1.4-liter engine.
The standard transmission will be a six-speed manual, but a six-automatic will be also available. (The Cobalt XFE was only available with a manual.) These days, automatic transmissions deliver fuel economy close to, and sometimes better than, manuals, so there's no reason to expect a big difference.
