The new Grand Cherokee will be the first vehicle to use Chrysler's new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. This gives the SUV fuel economy of up to 23 miles per gallon, an 11% improvement over the current Grand Cherokee, Chrysler says.
The new Grand Cherokee also has fully independent front and rear suspension as opposed to the solid rear axle used in the current Jeep. A new height-adjustable "Quadra-Lift Air Suspension" system should also provide greater flexibility for off-road performance.
