The biggest names in fast food -- McDonald's, Yum Brands (owner of KFC and Taco Bell), and Starbucks -- all saw revenues decline in 2009, but burrito-maker Chipotle raised prices during the recession and opened 121 new locations last year, helping revenue soar 23% to $1.5 billion.
By focusing efforts on using organic ingredients, the chain has earned a reputation as a healthier fast food option. Though McDonald's sold a majority interest in Chipotle in 2006 after it went public, that initial investment helped to grow the brand. Since then, the company's stock has climbed more then 200%.
