Every new widget and gizmo that you see on a website was birthed by a product manager. They help meld business requirements, creative visions and technical constraints to make projects happen.
"I like interacting with customers and users to understand how our products can be improved. It's great to be able to say that you found a need that was not being met, and that you made someone's life or work that much better," says Jeff Lash, vice president for product management at First Consult in St. Louis.
"Product management is a 'next year' job where a lot of the fruits of your labor are not reflected in a day or a week, but in a quarter or a year," he says. "If you like quickly seeing results, this is probably not the job for you."
