Despite the existence of the Cruze Eco model that gets 42 mpg on the highway, Jake Fisher of Consumer Reports says the Cruze is generally rather porky compared to its competitors. For most Cruze models, fuel economy is lower than other cars in its category.
Strong points for the Cruze are found within its smooth, quiet ride. "It rides like a grown-up car," Fisher said.
Consumer Reports can't recommend the Cruze yet, because it hasn't collected enough data on its reliability.
