Sadly, even to this day, WebOS remains the prime example of mobile multitasking done right.

The operating system used a card-based metaphor. If you were running several apps at once, you could switch between them by flicking between apps -- represented as cards -- on the home screen. It's a system that iOS has yet to match in terms of usability, and one RIM appears to have emulated with the PlayBook.
