Nevada, which has the nation's highest unemployment rate and is suffering from one of the biggest drops in average home values, has had little choice but to slash public support for its universities.
But even with this year's 11% increase in tuition, the cost of attending the University of Nevada Reno remains below the national average for in-state students.
