For a small town of 7,000, Russellville boasts several claims to fame: Southern sympathizers met here and formed the Confederate state government for a neutral Kentucky. And located downtown is the former bank building that the James Gang robbed in 1868. The town also has several historic and beautiful homes.
Among them is this well kept 1875 Victorian. It features a rocking-chair porch with elaborately turned columns, steep gabled roofs, and white clapboard siding. Inside, many of the rooms have beautiful wall treatments with period wallpaper designs. There are also several fireplaces, high baseboard moldings and hardwood floors. The yard is well shaded and there's a cute little playhouse for the kids.
At under $200,000, the home's price is not unusual for the area, which is one of the most affordable in the nation. Charming 2,500-square-foot bungalows nearby sell for under $80,000.
