Unusually for Hyundai, the Korean automaker underestimated demand for its products in 2011 and found itself capacity-constrained, which probably explains its loss of two places in this year's survey. Don't count it out, though. Other automakers regularly rank Hyundai as one of their most feared competitors, and it is making its biggest inroads in fast-growing segments like small cars and compact crossovers. And watch out for a new luxury sub-brand building on the success of the Genesis.
