With over $2 billion in global annual revenue, Oreo is the bestselling cookie brand of the 21st century. The first of the classic black-and-white sandwich cookies were baked in New York's Chelsea Market Bakery, and sold in Hoboken, N.J., for 30 cents a pound. According to a spokesperson for the brand, more than 35 billion Oreos were sold worldwide last year, 10 billion of which were in the U.S.

In 2012, Nabisco actually celebrates a doubly sweet centennial: Sadly overshadowed by its more decadent creme-filled cousin, the company's Lorna Doone shortbreads also turn 100 this year.
